Post: What does automotive mechanics study?

Automotive mechanics is one of the fundamental branches of mechanics for any mechanical traction vehicle. It is also in charge of studying and analyzing some of the vehicle components whose main purpose is the transmission and generation of motion.

Since it is the branch that analyzes the behavior of the vehicle’s movement, among the elements it studies is the engine. Without going any further, this is the undisputed protagonist of the force that propitiates the movement of the vehicle, the central part where everything necessary for the car to move correctly is generated and transmitted.

Automotive mechanics also studies other elements such as the timing belt or the camshaft. The latter is especially found in internal combustion engines and its main purpose is to facilitate the exit and entry of gases into the various cylinders of the vehicle.

In addition to these elements, automotive mechanics also studies the clutch and the gearbox. The clutch is what allows the driver to control the transmission of motion from the engine to the wheels. The gearbox, on the other hand, is the gearbox that maneuvers the vehicle’s wheels to overcome the resistance to forward motion.
